We’re proud to share an exciting milestone for Tamarack Grove Engineering: the Bogus Basin Pioneer Lodge Renovation has been named a winner of the Idaho Business Review’s 2026 Top Projects Award in the Renovation category.

This recognition is especially meaningful to our team because it marks TGE’s first major project award, celebrating not only the finished building, but also the collaboration, problem-solving, and structural engineering that helped bring a beloved local landmark into its next chapter.
Each year, the Idaho Business Review’s Top Projects Awards recognize construction and development projects throughout Idaho for excellence in design, innovation, execution, and community impact. The Pioneer Lodge is one of six projects recognized in the 2026 Renovation category.
Breathing New Life Into a Bogus Basin Landmark
Originally built in 1973, Pioneer Lodge has been part of the Bogus Basin experience for generations of Treasure Valley families. The latest renovation gave the more than 50-year-old lodge a substantial refresh while preserving the character that has made it such a familiar part of the mountain.

The project included a redesigned exterior, new windows, a reoriented entrance and vestibule, improved restrooms, heated pavers, and a new elevator providing access to all three floors. The renovation also incorporated important fire-safety improvements and created brighter, more welcoming interior spaces with expanded mountain views.
After construction began in April 2025, the newly renovated lodge opened to the community on January 23, 2026, giving skiers, snowboarders, families, and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the transformed space throughout the winter season.
For TGE, there is something particularly rewarding about working on a project that our own community gets to experience firsthand. Pioneer Lodge is more than a building. It is a gathering place, a warm-up spot after a run, a meeting point for families and friends, and part of countless memories made on the mountain.

A Special Thank You
Projects like this require persistence, collaboration, and plenty of behind-the-scenes problem-solving.
We want to give a special shoutout to Rylie and Bikash, who worked tirelessly on the structural engineering for the Pioneer Lodge Renovation. Their dedication throughout the project played an important role in helping transform an aging lodge into a refreshed, accessible, and functional space designed to serve the community for many years to come.
This award is a tremendous reflection of their hard work, and we are proud to celebrate this accomplishment with them.
We also appreciate the entire project team whose collaboration brought the renovation to life, including erstad Architects and VERTICAL Construction, along with Bogus Basin and the many professionals and tradespeople involved throughout design and construction.
Returning to the Mountain
Pioneer Lodge is also not TGE’s first trip up the mountain.
Our team previously provided structural engineering services at Bogus Basin for the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, another major addition to the recreation area. The coaster opened to the public in December 2017 and has since become one of Bogus Basin’s signature year-round attractions.

Having the opportunity to return to Bogus Basin years later for the Pioneer Lodge Renovation makes this recognition even more meaningful. These projects represent two very different engineering challenges, but they share something important: both contribute to a mountain that is deeply connected to the Boise and Treasure Valley community.
Celebrating a TGE Milestone
Being recognized by the Idaho Business Review for a project so close to home makes our first major project award particularly special.
The 2026 Top Projects Awards ceremony will take place on October 8, 2026, at Boise Centre East, where Idaho’s outstanding projects and the teams behind them will be celebrated.
We are grateful to Bogus Basin, our project partners, and everyone at TGE who contributed to this achievement. Most of all, we are proud to see the Pioneer Lodge back in action, serving the community and creating a new generation of memories on the mountain.
Congratulations to Rylie, Bikash, and the entire Pioneer Lodge project team on a milestone worth celebrating!
